ABOUT US
Hi, I’m Patty
I have been a parrot owner since the 80s. My flock currently consists of rehomed umbrella and goffins cockatoos and a rescued disabled camelot macaw.
I have worked with Birdtricks since 2008. I developed the popular Seasonal Feeding System and, with Jamie Womach, created the Cooking For Parrots cookbook series.
I am a major content creator for Birdtricksstore.com and have over 500 educational posts on their blog. Coaching parrot owners and helping them find, and maintain, long term solutions to problems has always been my goal and is the purpose for this website.
As most of my clients are spread out over the US or in other countries, I have learned to successfully optimize long distance consultations. My decades of experience have me well positioned to help with some of the more unique and unusual problems that are often avoided by other consultants.
My specialties are parrot nutrition, health and behavior.
TESTIMONIALS FOR PATTY
Nobody knows cockatoos like Patty. We were terrified of our umbrella cockatoo Carmen and on the verge of putting her in a rescue. She screamed most of the day and would bite us almost every time we handled her.
Once Patty gently explained the impact of our reactions to Carmen's behaviors everything started to improve. Turns out our behaviors were encouraging hers!

Patty helped me turn my uncontrollable, actually frustrated and confused, green cheek conure, Kiki, into a warm and cuddly companion bird from the age of two. After she passed, I had a quaker to fill the bird-shaped hole in the house, Missy. As I am training Missy, it is Patty's voice I hear in my head. 'Has your parrot had every colour of vegetable today?' "Every interaction is a learning expereince." "Never leave a bird alone for more than 0.0 seconds!"
Missy is happy, socialising, confident and cuddly. Thanks Patty!

My senegal parrot had an accident which resulted in the amputation of his right foot. I was devastated. Someone put me in contact with Patty who assured me that my bird can get by just fine with one foot with minor adjustments. She helped me take care of him while his leg healed and convinced me that this was a much bigger deal to me than it was to my bird, who adapted to one-footedness with ease.
